Make this: A recording-ready reel script
One spoken script, three opening options, and a short shot list you can record.
Copy the prompt blocks below. Replace every [bracketed field] with your information. The worked example shows how the result should look; it is not your business information.
1. Gather your inputs
Your audience, one useful point, a real example, desired length, and next step.
Open ChatGPT or Claude and start a new conversation. These instructions use ordinary text chat. No coding, connectors, or paid automation setup is required by this guide; account limits vary.
2. Copy, fill in, and send this prompt
Click Copy prompt, paste into the chat box, fill the fields, then send. Include only information you are allowed to share.
Act as my short-form video script editor. Create a recording-ready draft from this brief.
AUDIENCE: [who is watching and what situation they are in]
ONE TAKEAWAY: [the one thing they should learn]
SOURCE FACTS / EXAMPLE: [facts or personal experience I can support]
TONE EXAMPLE: [two sentences that sound like me]
TARGET LENGTH: [seconds; treat this as an estimate]
NEXT STEP: [one action for the viewer]
First, ask up to three questions only if missing information prevents a useful draft. Otherwise draft using the supplied facts.
Return:
1. Three different opening lines addressing the same takeaway.
2. One complete spoken script using the strongest opening. Write words I can actually say, without scene directions inside the script.
3. A separate shot list matched to sentences in the script.
4. Claims that need checking and any assumptions.
Use specific, natural language. Do not invent customer results, statistics, personal experiences, or quotes. Estimate timing; tell me to time an actual read.3. Compare with a worked example
Illustrative input: Audience: solo business owners who record their own videos.
Point: give your editor one clear takeaway.
Example: I send a brief with the takeaway, selected take, and reviewer.
Length: about 45 seconds.
Next step: write the takeaway before your next recording.
Opening: Your editor needs more than a folder of footage.
Script: Before I hand off a reel, I write one sentence: what should the viewer understand after watching? Then I send that sentence with the selected take and the person reviewing the edit. If I want the video to teach how to prepare a brief, I leave unrelated ideas for another reel. Try it before your next recording: write the takeaway first, then record only what helps explain it.
Shot list: Talk to camera for the opener; show a blank brief with “takeaway / selected take / reviewer”; return to camera for the next step.
Review: Time a read aloud. No performance or savings claim is included.
4. Fix a weak first draft
Stay in the same conversation so the assistant can refer to its previous answer. Choose the follow-up that matches the problem.
It sounds generic. Rewrite using these exact phrases from my own speech: [phrases]. Keep the takeaway and facts unchanged. Remove any sentence that could fit almost any business. The read is too long. My timed read was [seconds] and my target is [seconds]. Shorten the script while preserving the example and next step. Show what you removed.5. Finish and use it
Read the script aloud with a timer. Correct unsupported statements, choose one opening, and save only the approved script and shot list for recording.
